Procedure

1

Take sample

A pair of gloved hands using an incubator.

A sample is taken by a vet and securely shipped to us.

2

Cell manufacture

A man in a white lab suit examining vials.

Cells are then cloned and expanded from the patient sample.

3

Cryopreservation

A man leaning over a cryochamber, extracting cells.

The StemPlan® product is then labelled and stored in cryopreservation. Multiple doses can be stored, immediately available if the animal requires more than one treatment.

4

Clinical administration

Two vials with the brand name 'StemPlan' printed on them.

Finally, a vet administers the treatment into the wounded area.

What is cell therapy?

Cell therapy involves taking cells from the body and reintroducing them into the wounded area to promote natural healing. The cells used are adaptive cells called mesenchymal cells which modify themselves depending on their environment.

There are three major benefits to using cell therapy. Firstly, using cells to repair injuries can reduce inflammation which, despite being the body’s natural response to damage, can sometimes do more harm than good. This release of anti-inflammatory properties is called immunomodulation.

Secondly, utilising the body’s natural healing abilities, cell therapy reduces scar tissue. It’s been shown that cell therapy stimulates the growth of blood vessels, also known as angiogenesis, which promotes tissue regeneration and reduces visible scarring.

Thirdly, it’s a direct method of healing. Cells have the natural ability to find the injured area and begin to repair. Cell therapy utilises the innate healing capacity of the body, directing it towards the damaged area for focused recovery.
